Some withered ‘Gainst my heart. Some trying hard to be a part of life As I go down the hill Sloping steeper day by day (for time now gallops) To the edge. Of leaving here the life I’ve known And lived and loved. And worn to thread-bare age Sometimes full of pain and strife But always full of vibrant life. And at the end I’ll say: “Enough. Twas sometimes ecstasy and dancing And sometimes tears. Bleak tones of heart-break; But always it was deep and pulsing life. I’ll leave the path with love for other joyous feet As I walk down the hill to unknown destiny.” Marjorie Buckley – March 1983 Marjorie Buckley was Diane's Maternal Grandmother
